Sean Evelegh recognised as ‘The Most Innovative Woodworker in Kent’

Sean was proud to be recognised by LUXlife magazine as Kent’s most innovative wooden furniture designer in 2024.

The ‘Leaders in Luxury’ award offers ‘recognition to those that are continually excelling within the ever-growing luxury product and services industry’ and it ‘aims to acknowledge and reward those who have demonstrated exceptional creativity, innovation, and excellence.

Sean was recognised for his innovative furniture such as this elm burr coffee table, walnut sideboard, and sunburst wenge dining table.

The elm coffee table is crafted from wych elm, which has the most beautiful, swirly grain patterns, with different colours, knots, burls and poppy areas. Supporting the table top is a base composed of 60 hand-turned spindles, sandwiched between two segmented rings.

The sunburst coffee table seats eight people comfortably, and at the heart of this piece is an intricately inlaid globe. Further features include an inlaid trim made from fumed eucalyptus and lime, which flows from the table top down the tapering legs. Another special feature about this table is that it was designed to be easily assembled and disassembled.

The Kumiko sideboard’s standout feature is the hand-cut kumiko panel pattern. The sliding doors and drawers are fitted with inlaid walnut handles, and the top is made from ripple walnut.
