Our process

Commissioning a piece

Design

We strive to design and make bespoke, unique pieces of furniture, and everything begins with an initial consultation for us to understand what you are looking for. The project can be as much of a collaboration as you would like; we are happy to work with a specific brief and to involve you at every step, or alternatively we are happy designing a piece with creative freedom that we think would work perfectly in your space.

Sketches

Whether we are designing a new piece of furniture for your home, or undertaking a large refurbishment project, everything starts with a pencil sketch drawn by Sean. Paying close attention to the room, lighting and space, we will provide you with a design and choice of timber that we have carefully selected. Ultimately, what matters most to us is you fall in love with the design and we therefore will go through as many iterations as you like. Once we have finalised the design, we will present you with a watercolour painting of the piece.

Build

The piece will be hand-made in our workshop in Kent, using the best quality hand-tools and machinery, and finest levels of craftsmanship to ensure the piece will last for generations. During the making we will keep you updated with videos and pictures so you can see the piece come to life.

Delivery

We personally will deliver the piece to you, ensuring everything is in immaculate condition, along with providing advice on how to best care for your piece. If you are based outside of the UK, we use a trusted courier service.

What our clients think

Hand crafted
with care…

We have worked with Sean Evelegh in his creation of five beautiful pieces for our home. Not only are these stunning in the flesh – the photos cannot do justice – but the process itself was a pleasure. Sean is a perfectionist, taking immense care and time to create each piece of art and is visibly invested in the perfection of each detail. He was also a pleasure to work with as he communicates frequently during the process and took great care to explain how best to care for each of his creations. Overall, working with Sean was a singular experience in having a master craftsman take us on the journey of creating heirloom-quality, stunning furniture.

London Townhouse, Chelsea

I commissioned a bench from Sean for my hallway. I wanted the bench to incorporate some storage capacity for shoes but also to look visually appealing. Sean presented me with multiple detailed, hand drawn designs with a selection of different woods to pick from. He totally understood my vision and I couldn't be happier with the result. It's a beautiful and functional piece, I especially love the carved detailing and dovetail joinery.

Manor House, Scotland

The Alberto Desk that Sean made for me meets both standards of beauty and utility. I sit at it every day, and each time I notice its beauty, the materials, the craftsmanship, and how perfect it is to work at. The details, finish, and sturdiness achieve the mid century elegance I wanted, while also making a piece of furniture that will last for generations. The commissioning process was collaborative and engaged, and the outcome beyond my expectations. Sean kept me in touch with the process throughout and also stuck closely to the timetable he set.
